Frost Gray Adult Tee 100% Combed Ring Spun Cotton Creator: Pat PerryGrowing up in Grand Rapids, MI, Pat Perry did his fare share of bird-watching. But here’s hoping his funny T-shirt design for New Standard was inspired by his imagination and not experience. On a faded gray tee, the illustrator drew a bemused bird perched on a branch. Realistic enough, right? But wait, the animal’s got a red breast (and this is not a Robin) and a bloody, dismembered finger falls from its beak. Just goes to show what happens when you feed the birds.

I am an illustrator working out of Grand Rapids, MI. In my youth, I spent lots of time drawing, and kept up with it to the present day. I started out doing tee shirt designs and small projects locally. I have now done design work for companies all over the country, and have recently done my first international collaboration.
I feel my inspiration comes mainly from my environment. The buildings I walk by, the animals I see, and the people I encounter. Sometimes I draw upon ideas I have, but many times I listen to music for inspiration also. I like to keep things light-hearted, but sometimes embed some deeper meanings.
My style is mainly figurative, usually with various levels of abstraction, but sometimes with none at all. All my work is hand-drawn, and sometimes quite meticulous. I strive to keep variations in my style, especially when exploring different media.
