White V-Neck Junior Tee 100% Combed Cotton Jersey, Pre-Shrunk Creator: C86Brit Matt Lyon, who goes by the moniker C86, says everything from David Lynch films to Japanese creativity to peanut butter feeds his artwork. But his inspiration for a New Standard T-shirt stayed a little closer to home. On this V-neck junior tee, the graphic artist nods to Alan Moore’s steampunk comic-book series, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, with bubble-letter typography spelling out “Britannia Waives the Rules” (which in itself mocks the U.K. patriotic song “Rule, Britannia!”). Set atop a red, white, and blue Union Jack flag, more familiar phrases from across the pond, like “Fish and Chips,” are thrown in for good measure.

C86 showcases the work of graphic artist Matt Lyon. My current work explores line, colour, pattern and shape, often using reoccurring motifs and/or themes. I'm also keen on creating hand-set typography and anything wild and colourful.
Inspiration: Daydreaming and taking a line for a walk are the two main inspirations to my work. In addition I love Folk Art / Outsider Art, reading, movies and music, that in their own way all manage to colour the process
My work has been described in relation to Folk Art, 60s psychedelia, 50s retro, geometric design and that of an obsessive doodler. It's not for me to say, though I guess I must fit in there somewhere...
